Meet the Founder…

Brooke Gates

Brooke is a high-school student, who is also the Youth Ambassador for the Library for Africa organization since 2019. Here is her story.

In February 2024, I joined my mother and a delegation on a trip to Liberia, Africa. She has been doing humanitarian work there since 2019 and has already traveled there, so I decided to visit. It was a beautiful experience. Everyone was very kind, and the scenery was surreal. Visiting multiple schools was on our main agenda for this trip.

While visiting the first school, we read to the children and passed out gifts and candy. While leaving, a group of senior girls asked to speak with me. They asked me if I could pay for their school tuition. Without hesitation, I said yes, despite being a high school student with a simple job. Now, here I am, helping fulfill my promise and more.
